HomeAll EventsMarch12/MarFestival of Numbers : Talk - How to learn/teach Math
Join us in an immersive celebration of numbers. It’s a carnival like no other! Filled with enriching activities and games for you to experience the exhilarating discovery of interesting numbers all around you!

By Dr Hang Kim HooVice-President, Singapore Mathematical Society

The enacted math curriculum in Singapore focuses on conceptual understanding and development of mathematical skills and processes in the learning of mathematics. As math is hierarchical, the mastery of learning at each stage of the concepts and skills is built upon the previous one. This talk will illustrate how these can be effectively carried out at the lower primary levels, through exemplars using numbers and their operations and the teaching of fractions. The speaker will provide some tips on the dos as well as the don’ts to avoid. This talk is meant for anyone interested in the teaching of mathematics to Primary 1 to Primary 3 children.

This talk is free but admission charges to Science Centre Singapore applies.
